For Holiday looking far ahead is so aspired that we often forget looking around or nearby, which can also be equally or more pleasing. Modern social status quo is a good holiday is the one where we stamp a visa and travel abroad. Here is short picturesque trip tour to Valley of Indian Hills: Mussoorie.
What do we look for when we walk out of our daily routine ?
I just wanted to break the monotony of what I do and how I do. Sometimes just do nothing, awaken a mental sense to jolt the little frozen nerve. It wasn’t check-in vs gallery upload but serenity for delight of mind and soul.
Agree that peace is within but sometime to do that we need to look around deeply and make sense of ourselves with total of what is around.
Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Sky : five of them around makes us. Our surrounding is what makes us. Getting close to purest form of them is like meeting our own self again.
When you look below Mussoorie over looks at Doon valley gives you a feel of standing close to sky. Whereas the moment you look ahead “Himalayan Range” peek out from behind making grandeur image of itself. Himalaya facing you in eye tells you though you stand at my height I am still the tallest.
I,
I stand alone
surrounded by the presence of breeze,
conquering the thought
buried beneath
I,
I stand quiet
symphony of peace playing inside,
just found way to
listen it
I,
I stand amazed
beauty of life starts with me , but look around
everyone has it
already
What is any city if not for food and streets ?
Millions walked on them, horses tapped their feet, but now cars get stuck for hours. These tiny pathway like roads make only way to reach on top, a peak which makes the beauty out of what is beneath. Amongst all there is quiet regular life of locals. Hanging cloths, chirpy noise of children playing at veranda, cycles parked. Telling you life we came from is everywhere.
Curator of nature must be amazing at himself/herself (Feminist in me believe may be “she” did it all ) for creating a world which automatically evolved and become self sustaining to this extend. Hills seclude people here with all heated things whether it is temperature or politics. Life has own meaning and peace. But, what booms like every other part of India is Real Estate.
No recreational activity but just long walks to these roads bring the best of rhythm in you. Chilly cold makes you have as many teas as you can sip with hot maggie and momos which are available at every turn of the hill.
At the top rests the current king of Mussoorie, Raskin Bond. He made this city his home. Meets his fans every Saturday at Oxford Bookstore and otherwise look at those red window at first floor and you will get glimpse of him sitting across window over looking magnificent view of old Mussoorie and Doon Valley panning down another amazing set of books, which our and generation ahead will grow up reading.
All this is just one side of the story, what makes experience complete is place where you make your stay. It shouldn’t be just hotel but heritage, part of history , part of feeling and part of sense of hills.
The Fortune Savoy
British build it to go away from clutter of the Shimla and other hill stations around. Nehru, Dalai Lama, etc. has made their mark here but having the room that over looks the whole Mussoorie from here is real treat.
A great break is nothing but a book, hot tea and hills by your side.
To read or to look eye in eye with hills was constant fight, but when breeze settle, you feel being wrapped around by chill of cold bringing subtle quiet peace in you.
At the end it is just nature that makes the life around you and so within you.
